Christmas 1947, and young Ronnie was greeted with Dad’s latest additions to the model train layout encircling the tinsel laden tree. Starting with older O-gauge train parts and motors Dad fabricated new locomotives out of tin, dowels, thumb tacks, hand-carved wooden pieces and love for several Christmases. He also built and painted a dozen wooden homes and buildings which unfortunately no longer exist, but I still have the steam engines.
