Modern Mechanix magazine started publication in 1928. Most of the magazine covers of 1934 and 1935 featured the colorful, distinctive, sometimes whimsical illustrations of the amazing Douglas Rolfe (though usually not credited), like the Dyno-Wheel Motor Bus shown here. In 1938 Modern Mechanix became Mechanics Illustrated. This 6.62 x 9.62 in. cover has been working on its weathered patina for almost 85 years, has now been digitally preserved and will reproduce in large formats as well as puzzles, coffee mugs and greeting cards.
