Description
Grand Island East Channel Lighthouse is on the southeast shore of Grand Island just north of Munising, Michigan. It was built in 1863, intended to lead boats from Lake Superior into the Munising Harbor. The light was removed from service around 1913, but the 45 foot tower has been kept up over the years and is on the National Register of Historic Places. It’s owned privately and cannot be accessed by land.
