My wife’s great grandparents staked their claim outside Trenton, Nebraska on land acquired in two transactions, 1889 and 1894.The house would have been about 100 years old when I photographed it here in 1998. When revisited in 2017 the tree was still there but the only hint of the old house was a pile of 19th century lumber.
