Description

The Surf Ballroom Museum in Clear Lake, Iowa, was the venue for the famous and fateful Winter Dance Party on February 3, 1959 featuring Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper. From the 1930s through today the Surf has been the venue for Big Band, Country, Polka, Blues and of course ’50s and ’60s Rock and Roll. The present Ballroom opened in 1948 after the original, which opened in 1933, burned in 1947.
